But going off of your point of view, in this case… Sure, pulling the strings on someone’s destiny is a little twisted, but do you really think Twilight would have said no when asked?
I think if anything, Season 3 has shown us that Twilight is secretly rather ambitious. And now she’s an alicorn princess. Now she has all the time in the world to explore magic and experiment to her heart’s content.

Please. Like Twilight would have ever considered the long term effects of becoming an alicorn. This episode was written in late 2011, and they decided themselves to write it this way.
I was referring more to Celestia’s love of Twily taking on a pretty creepy dimension.
I think that was more implying that Celestia is a horrible mentor or something. Honestly when you’re as powerful as Twilight, your powers can’t afford to be wasted.
Please. You KNOW even if Celestia asked, she would have jumped up and down going “yes yes yes.”
The writers planned her to be an alicorn, she would have been one no matter what.
Personally, I’ve been waiting for a musical number by Celestia since the first episode when I first heard her voice narrating the opening. It was just beautiful, and I was not disappointed in the least.
