It's obvious they would take stuff from season 9! The comic staff absolutely won't retcon anything, it still will lead to the future we saw in The Last Problem (mainly because there'lls be an upcoming issue focusing in Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich and it may have a few romantic moments between the two).
