I know this is a tangent, but since you mentioned it, I honestly don’t know where people are getting AppleDash from. The implications about Granny Smith weren’t lost on me. The LyraBon implications throughout the show weren’t lost on me. The RariJack implications in EQG weren’t lost on me. And yet, somehow whatever everybody is reading into that checks off the AppleDash box is apparently going over my head. I mean, it seems to me like there’s more shipping fuel for StarTrix than for AppleDash and I honestly think the writers entirely meant for the bond between Trixie and Glimmer to be platonic because in a show that revolves around friendship they made that specific friendship the most relatable out of any of them, hands down. Seriously, what the hell did I miss?
I read from somewhere that “unless the comics conflict with existing lore, they’re canon”. So you can see why I’m not sure about it myself.
Possible … they were back paddling hard for a while after the purists had bombarded them with complaints about Twili’s wings.
But whatever may or may not have been said in a comic, officially the show overrules the comics in regards to the canon. To my knowledge that policy never changed.
And for the finale they went out of their way to show us aged pones with wrinkled faces next to a purple Celestia with silky smooth cheeks on all four corners. Not much room for interpretation imo.

I tried searching mlp.fandom.com (previously mlp.wikia.com) but couldn’t find where she said that; someone told me she had said that, but I think it was in the comics.
Twilight’s an Alicorn, her friends are not. She’s either immortal or has at least a lifespan of several thousand years.
Which part of that is “just headcanon” ?

They want to sell princess toys with pretty manes, not traumatize the target audience.

I think they just hadn’t thought about that, and even if they had they wouldn’t wanna bother the target audience with it.

If that was a thing, you’d think they would’ve brought it up when Shining married Cadence—but since they didn’t it’s a non-issue.
The massive lifespan is why I think being an Alicorn and finding yourself a non-Alicorn (one who doesn’t have the lifespan) partner would get stupidly old after 3 or 4 of them dying of old age.
Like, if we imagine an average Earth pony lives around 120y (unicorns maybe 100 and Pegasi anywhere from 70+), that’s something like 80 being together, the partner becoming old and shit, while you stay in your 20s-30s for many more.
