I give it a try myself, by saying he come back from the dead with is horn, but loose his memory because it was hold in his former body. (An overused explanation indeed but hey, if it is overused, it’s because it work) And now he wander across Equestria doing all sort of thing, including taking care of orphan, to find his place.
