Genderless individuals like NiGHTS and Amaterasu difficult for some people to fathom because there’s only one species in our reality that we’re the most in contact with and that species has very few unusual characteristics. We don’t have a wide berth of aliens and monsters to commune or socialize with and so humanity’s collective perception on identity and universal entity interaction is fairly limited. Once sci-fi and fantasy enters one’s purview, one is forced to ask and answer questions with no immediate basis in the real world.ASubsequently, as soon as fantasy becomes reality, those questions and answers will become irrelevant.
