Description

How about a quick pit stop at the brewery for a snack before heading back? Stay low, don’t drink much, and keep an ear out for what others are saying. You should eavesdrop a tad and learn about what kinds of rumors, if any, are being spread about your new friends.

You roll a 20 (required 10). Critical success‼

You suggest paying the brewery another visit, and your friends eagerly agree. You follow the road west into the Mall district, along which vibrant glowing signs and screens light up the night on your way to the establishment.

Once inside, you find the place just as lively as when you last visited. The owner seems to recognize you as you enter, and beckons you over from behind the counter.

Brewer: “It’s good to see you lot here again! I’ll take it as a compliment. Heheh! So, what can I get you all?”

Your party orders some plates of food and light drinks, costing each one of you a couple of bits.

You pay 2 Bronze Bits.

Before long, your order is ready. You thank the brewer, then as you carry the trays over to a free table, you notice a pair of familiar ponies waving at you from the far end of the terrace.

Florette: “Trailblazer, over here! Care to sit with us?”

Accepting the invitation, you join Florette and Revel Stripes at their table, and share greetings all around.

Florette: “I wasn’t sure if you’d left the Undercity already. I hope you’ve been enjoying your stay so far?”

You nod, and tell her that while you haven’t been able to see everything just yet, your earlier visit at the spa did wonders after a long day of adventuring.

Revel Stripes: “Been productive, huh? That’s good. Keeps ponies from making trouble.”

Florette: “Oh! Speaking of trouble, I should let you know that the Order is searching all over for a fugitive. It’s nothing you should worry about, but if you notice a sudden increase in patrols on the surface, that would be why.”

You admit that you had already been made aware, but thank her for making sure that you knew nonetheless.

Revel Stripes: “It has been the word on the street for the past two days, Florie.”

Florette: “I suppose that’s true. You did say you were adventurers, didn’t you? So, what have you four been up to, if I may ask?”

Smoke: “I mean, should we tell her? Isn’t she from the Order, too?”

Revel Stripes: “Pfeh! Don’t let that stop you; you can talk to little Florie about anything. She won’t tell the Order a word of what happens down here, much like she won’t tell us about what they’re doing up there. Not even to me!”

Florette: “It’s true! I believe that remaining impartial is how I can do the most good. But if you’d rather not share, then I understand.”

You tell your party that you can talk about it, even if you omit who was involved. It wouldn’t hurt for more members of the Order of Dawn to know about your quest, after all.

Moonflower: “Ooh, good point! Should we start at the beginnin’? Let’s do that! So, the Oracle of my village chose Blazer and I to go and get a seed from the Yggdrasil tree as my trial to become the next oracle, but then…”

As Moonflower begins to recount your journey — and gets sidetracked at least a dozen times in so doing —, you take some time to enjoy your meal.

The rich brew and crunchy root vegetables are just as refreshing as you remember, and make for a satiating dinner, though the lack of variety reminds you of the agricultural challenges faced by the unicorns of Midgard.

As you eat, a conversation from a nearby table suddenly catches your attention, and you can’t help but subtly listen in.

Anxious mare: “.. I’m telling you, it was one of those monsters from the surface!”

Exhausted stallion: “Are you sure you’re not just seeing things? You’ve been skimping on sleep lately. There’s no way they could come down here without getting caught on camera.”

Anxious mare: “I know what I saw… but you’re right. Why don’t we go watch the footage together? …”

As the two voices grow distant, you turn your attention back to the conversation at your own table, and eventually join in the recounting of your own adventures leading up to today.

Florette: “That’s fascinating! If I didn’t know any better, I’d think your tale a mere legend, but it all makes so much sense. No pony in Midgard could have possibly done all that you say you have!”

Revel Stripes: “No kidding! The only magic my horn can do is make Florie—”

Florette: “Ahem! W-well now! Time sure flies while in good company, doesn’t it? And as much as I’d love to stay longer, I’m afraid it’s time for us to hit the hay.”

A nearby clock indicates eleven o’clock.
