collapsing star or also known purely as ‘lapse’ or just ‘col’ is the son of a magically gifted unicorn and champion speedster, rainbow dash. the older of two brothers, col is an arrogant turd who isn’t afraid to just casually boast that his mother bested the princess of magic. though, his unbringing is just a slight bit less than gifted.

when sunset returned to equestria, she was in a bit of a slump. she returned to being a court mage for empress of the sun and yet, she felt so lonely.. and coincidently, at the same time. rainbow was rather lonely as well, and they might’ve dated for a few week until rainbow got scared of commitment and broke with sunset. but it wasn’t until two months later that sunset would discover she was with foal.

col would be born some time later, sunset never revealed him as rainbow’s son and would always claim his other parent to be just a donor… until she spilled the beans when col was about eight years old. col hasn’t shared it but would soon confront her.. eventually.

around the age of six, sunset would come home very drunk with zephyr breeze who in turn seemed quite sober. and then as soon as he appeared, zephyr was gone. and then some months later a golden colored colt would be born.

despite his rather peculiar family status, col was never ashamed. he loved his mother, his brother and the other mother he knew he probably had. col and his little brother grew up rather close, even though col was more of a reasercher with a nack of magic, he fully supported and tried to help sunny with his artistic talents.

col is extremely powerful, he has heavily time and destruction based magic with a spiral type base. his cutiemark represents this, the colorful stars are his diverse set of abilities and how powerfully destructive they are. the golden spirals behind the stars are the spiral type base of his magic. but he still is the son of one of the most impulsive ponies in equestria and has seemed to have inherited this trait as well, instead of becoming a researcher like his mother wants him to he became an althelete with a slight bit of a cheat streak.

he doesn’t have much remorse for this, his fans idolize him and he has encouraged bullying to those who claim they know he cheats and he does his best to be his brother’s idol as he is to his fans.

some extra facts——

• col and starlight met once at one of his racing events, he didn’t really care for her and when sunset said she and starlight were getting married he was kinda surprised and thought she could’ve done better
• he and another famous racer, named dawnovan, have done a few races, each and everytime ending with a tie.
• col is good friends with starlight’s son, semper fidelis and the two regularly hangout and talk about new spells
• he is also very very good friends with a peculiar drequanequus named eris.
• technically, his powerful magic is also enhanced by having alicorn blood in his veins. celestia would’ve offered to make him her student but she couldn’t stand his arrogance
