Yeah I have always heard it termed as “a numbing agent” sort of thing. And Digest is pronounced the same (at least where I live?)
First there is digest as in how you digest food, then there is digest as in Reader’s Digest. I assume the number you are thinking of is as in one, two, et cetera. The other number is where the b is silent, and it means more numb. Though that one, admittedly, is less widely used, to say the least.
