Like any other starting drummer who was inspired by a shit metal drummer like Lars Ulrich or that guy from Slipknot, Pinkie believes that faster is better and doesn’t know the basics like what an odd time signature or polyrhythm is. I used to be the same way until I listened to drummers like Bill Bruford and learned that playing complex beats with odd time signatures (even if they’re slow ones) proves you more talent than that random guy who tries to play the most basic beat (hi-hat + kick, hi-hat + snare, repeat x100) at 220 BPM.

I’m usually like this, or at least I was.
Practice doesn’t make perfect because nothing is perfect and ever will be. I can try as hard as I can to draw but it’s going to be very fucking hard with only a keyboard and mouse.
Don’t worry about it, you’re not the only one who has given too much thought to cartoon musicians and the way they play their instruments compared to reality.

Also, don’t hold yourself back… if you want to try and draw, do it… even if you’re not good at it, you can say you’ve tried, plus practice makes perfect… and we do need some more people making ponified album covers on this site ;3
I never said I was a smart ass, because I’m not. If anything I’m a complete dumb ass with no life and no friends, thinking I’m so clever because I listen to prog rock, wasting valuable time on Derpibooru shitting on excellent artwork with lots of effort put into it because King Crimson > Toto. I don’t necessarily enjoy this and I might as well end my life because being born was the worst thing to happen to me.
Maybe I should just stick with album covers even though they require so much more work and I’m a terrible artist who probably couldn’t make shit if I tried lol.

you don’t need “talent” to do something - it takes skill and practice more than anything, not J.K. Simmons screaming at you about how it’s not his tempo

I never said everyone had to be Buddy Rich or Hal Blaine or that a drummer who can’t play odd time signatures isn’t a real drummer. Odd time signatures is something that anyone can learn if they actually gave a shit. I should know because I myself am not a very good drummer despite being able to play in 5/4 and 7/4.
Of course we all know that Pinkie Pie isn’t a real drummer because MLP is entirely fictional.

the whole “if you’re not (blank) then you’re not a real (blank)” thing is getting old tbh - if you can do the thing and you can do it well then what’s the problem? not everyone can have the skill of Buddy Rich or Hal Blaine or hell even fucking Animal from the Muppets
