She had multiple seasons of complete failures, losing people and places, all increasing her insanity quota, then she spends 10 years frozen on the same place? Breaking down to tears isn’t that farfetched.

She’d be a sadistic anti-hero at best ala Discord (not bashing him as a character; he objectively did show signs of sadism past S4, to the point not a single season goes by without him showing that in some way), if it was true to her character.
 
The issue with her is that she isn’t exactly a rational character prone to self-reflection, so it’s really hard to appeal to her sensibilities, unless perhaps she’s in a position where she hates a common enemy/enemies a lot more than she hates the heroes, and her priorities are shifted in the process, and she’s not the type to just shift on a dime.

The only way I could see Chrysalis becoming “good” is if she stuck around the main cast for a while and became more of a frienemy to them over time and/or through villain decay.

I’d wonder what part of Chrysalis begging for her life screams “natural development.”
 
Showing remorse is one thing, if she’s capable of outright acknowledging her mistakes, but her being the type to plead for mercy is another, and I’m not sure that you could sell the latter.
