Yeah the point is still there. Both were popular in the 90's regardless of specifically when iyt happened and I'm living proof of that from seeing it. I grew up seeing these trends, but most definitely boomboxes in the early 90's during the age of hip hop. Yoyos were a big trend when I was in school where kids would play with them during class and on the school grounds. Skateboarding also became popular in my area where lots of kids wore hats backwards and short sleeve shirts over long sleeve shirts to look "kool" and "rad". House rock (or dad rock) was big as well.
