BP1: I’ll do just that but it just gets in my way of my daily comic viewing most of the time. So why is absurd res better than “reasonably sized res?”

That would be sound advice, but I think Derpibooru prefers higher res images, therefore your lower res image could bet merged forward (deleted) even if you uploaded it in lower res with the best of intentions.
 
A better question is, why isn’t Derpibooru capable of displaying a third resolutions, same as DA and some other ’boorus? Maybe if we are really nice we can ask the owner-admin to consider that for a future update.
 
Until then, if you can not see the image well, just go to the source. DA can do readable display for you.

Here’s something you can do Slaver, you can save the picture from the site itself and you don’t need to go to the download screen to do it. After full viewing the picture on the original page, you can just right click it and “Save picture as..” in there. That way the upload won’t become an absurd res when other people like myself try to full view the picture here. Do you understand what I’m saying? (Sometimes I give alot of detail but never use the right words to explain what I mean)
