If you ask me, it’s kinda been doing that since the S2 finale, which was only made watchable by the villains IMO.

This makes sense, but the 6th star point is most likely hidden behind her horn.

Cash from alicorn Twilight toys is all that matters for Hasbro. Anyway, season 1 was the best season and Winter Wrap Up is the best song.

I think people have loved FiM so much that they simply can’t imagine it backsliding into something like G3. G3 is where MLP was without people like Lauren Faust overseeing it, and if the people currently in charge of the show aren’t strong enough, either in terms of their writing or in terms of their willingness to butt heads with Hasbro’s corporate wing, it wouldn’t take much for MLP to devolve back into what it used to be.

To review what is known so far, consider several backgrounds that were supposedly leaked alongside Trixie wearing the alicorn amulet. They showed places such as Rarity’s fashion shop and deteriorating. Here’s Sweet Apple Acres: >>72159. They are probably from this episode (and indeed somepony caught this already from the updated spoiler tag).
 
All but confirming this is >>239671. This shows pinkie pie in front of the boared-up barn in >>72159. She was the new Applejack, but did not do a good job at it. Based on this, the synopsys, and what we know so far, we can say that through magic, likely casted by Twilight in her final studies to ascension, all the mane 6 switch cutiemarks. They therefore take up the lives of their friends but realize they are incompetent at it. Note that Twilight is not necessarily exempt, as we see Fluttershy with Twi’s cutiemark in one screenshot.
 
My prediction follows. To rectify the situation, Twilight is forced to create new magic. With guidance from Starswirl, through his letters and possibly other ways, she writes a new magic spell in his notebook and, uh, fixes everything. In so doing, however, she has to learn the ins and outs of her friends behind the cutiemarks, their life stories, their joys and sorrows, the full capacity they have in fulfilling their own destinies. Only then does she partake the elements they carry.
 
The episode’s theme seems to be about or include embracing what you are. That Twilight has transcended unlike her friends will likely be brought up, but justified that they are equals in her eyes, since she knows their full potential and the worth they have to the world.
 
That is my current theory.

Seriously, Twilight’s promotion over her friends is leaning towards the bad side of the fence for me as it is, I might just drop the show (not the fandom) altogether if it comes at the expense of the other five, not to mention that it would ruin the whole “united” thing it had going on.
