I think Butterscotch would not be as loyal as Rainbow Blitz. Here’s a story when he was a kid, a bully who hated Blitz demanded Scotch to steal Blitz’s diary or the bully punch Scotch in the face. Butterscotch would try to rationalize why stealing a diary would not do Blitz too much harm if it meant Scotch would not be punched repeatedly. But Blitz even as a colt being his loyal self would literaly rather die than ever tell another pony his friend’s secrets however trivial it would be.

Of course this is before character development ensues.

That’s the darker side of Butterscotch but he also has some great strengths.

He believes in understanding and debating and negotiating those that are different to himself and he always tries console people and try to understand. Blitz would just try to say his own solution and not give much credence to the other side at all. Blitz would also tease his friends for their quirks. But he does this out of ignorance not malice.

So the two both have pros and cons and they will both grow to be better ponies.
