To be honest, even that character animation style has been around even longer then TTG, and one of the earliest examples of that "thick line" style is the '90s show "2 Stupid Dogs," or maybe even Hanna Barbara cartoons from the '60s, or even those rubberhose cartoons from the 1930s.
