Description
Home sweet home, at last! It had been a long week at the Equestria Reader’s Rodeo, and this year’s convention had been amongst the busiest. Twist had found modest success with her Equestria Avengers comic book series. This year, in particular, with the completion of the To Where and Back Again storyline.
It seemed her readers were satisfied with the resolution, bittersweet, as it was with the death of Iron Mare. In the end, Grogar was defeated, and that’s all that mattered.
Of course, there was debate over the deaths of certain Heroes such as Spider Mare. Of course, Captain Marevel was still as polarizing as ever. There were, of course, some fans, who always believed Captain Marevel to be a “Glimmer Sue” whatever that meant.
Ultimately all The young writer cared about was that her stories made ponies happy. It warmed Twist’s heart to know that there were ponies who liked her stuff enough that they would ask for an autograph, or would give her gifts. Just the fact that ponies were interested in her stories was enough. It was fun, but also exhausting.
Thus when she got home, she wasted no time slipping out of her worn and sweaty convention attire and laying it on the washer. She could take care of that later. She was content with a bubble bath, and a quick meal of microwavable chineighse food.
After slipping into some more cozy clothes, and into her bed, Twist’s attention was focused solely on her little fur baby. Even though the house sitter always took good care of him, it was always clear that her precious pupper had missed her. That was still the worst part of Twist’s outings, having to say goodbye to her baby.
Sure she would always be back, but that didn’t take away how bad it felt to leave the little poocho alone.
Said poocho was now staring at her, his wide eyes filled with curiosity and concern. Almost as if to say…“Mom, are you okay? You’re staring off into space again. Do you need a vet?”
“Momma’s fine sweetheart,” Twist told her precious pup, before taking him into her hands, and gently laying him against her belly.
After he was settled in, Twist began to tenderly stroke him along the back. Her free hand reached up to scratch his ears. As her doggo drank in the attention, he had to go a week without, Twist reveled in the pure euphoric feeling of being home. The safety and warmth of her bed, the sense of her baby lying on her chest, his breathing synchronized with hers.
Finally, she could relax, Her pup yawning as if agreeing. Settling in, nestling himself into the writer’s chest, as she continued to shower him in gentle pets. His silky soft fur and velvet ears could’ve given even Twist a run for her money in terms of softness.
There was just one thing missing…
“Pffffttttp!”
Instantly, the raspberry saw all of the pent up anxiety from Twist’s trip dissipate as her puppies’ ears shot forward. He gave her a look of wide-eyed confusion as if to say. “Dafug, was that noise, Mom!?”
Twist nickered softly before leaning in to gently nuzzle at his head. Him giving a loving lick on her nose as she pulled away.
“I missed you, baby,” Twist told him as they settled in to get the first good night’s sleep in a week. The cycle to inevitably repeat the next convention, but until then, they had each other.
A mare, and mare’s best friend.
