Even without shuffling the timeline around so that these two season finales are basically happening at the same time, are they wrong?

Twilight Sparkle: Soooooo… Why are you having a wedding in the middle of a chaos god outbreak?
Shining Armor: I thought you had that under control.
Twilight Sparkle: For a little bit, but, uh, isn’t that what the force field and guards are for?
Shining Armor: No, that’s different. Someone else has made a threat on Canterlot. We don’t know who. All we know is that someone got into the throne room under everyone’s noses and posted a message that they’re going to take Canterlot.
Twilight Sparkle: And you’re absolutely certain it’s not a prank?
Shining Armor: Given the security they had to breach, yes. And it doesn’t fit Discord’s MO. We’re looking at a real infiltration and possible invasion here.
Applejack: Wha- Now HOLD ON! Yer tellin’ me that someone looked at the literal god of chaos flyin’ around and tearing the fabric of reality and said to themselves… “Well boy howdy, perfect time fer military action against the enemy capital! Where it all started. And could resume happenin’ at any time.”
Shining Armor: That’s exactly the reason why we’re upping security. Whoever made that threat is serious AND crazy.
Twilight Sparkle: And seriously crazy.
