Well, I suppose a completely canonical Twilight wouldn’t be as interesting as a Twilight who is very close to Moondancer, and is able to have meaningful conversations like this.
Keep in mind Moondancer also cares deeply for Spike, and is one of the few ponies (besides her parents) who believes that Twilight has what it takes to be Spike’s mom. That kind of friendship runs deep and goes a long way. I love how this comic has portrayed Moondancer, and her relationship with Twilight and Spike.

I’m sure by this point, Twilight has more or less had it. At some points, it can feel like the whole world is working against you, and I’m sure that’s what’s going through Twilight’s mind.
As I understand the author established that the comic is a prequel, but the way she talks to Moondacer and other ponies, it is more AU. She is very close with Moondacer not to realize that she is his friend.

Considering she said “ponies” it seems she’s experienced this before.
