looking into it more, bugs that have adapted for living underground in caves don’t have the sort of defenses against the sun that surface-dwelling bugs have. Changelings live in a cave, so UV light might soon paralyze and kill them. Though they do have dark exoskeletons. Maybe something else causes them to be dark
but if this anthro Chryssy really does have skin and not chitin, then yes, she’s resistant to UV light

Huh, I didn’t know that. I got the idea from the fact that dark colors absorb more light than bright colors.
dark skin prevents sunburns because melanin blocks UV light
but it might be different for a changeling, idk
