See this…this is what happens when I can’t get to sleep, I draw shipping fan art. This drawing is of Clover the Clever and Commander Hurricane, two of the characters featured in the historical play ‘Hearth’s Warming Eve’ on MLP: FIM. I just discovered in reading one of the books from the franchise, that the historical Hurricane was in fact male, so he was simply played by a female in the play, like how Peter Pan is often portrayed by women. Then of course my MLP shipping sense started tingling and this happened. As to why Clover the Clever…well why not? I think the idea of the fierce leader of the pegasus forces falling in love with the intellectual unicorn court advisor Clover the Clever is adorable.
 
As for the piece itself I like to think it is immediately following the defeat of the Wendigos with the tribal leaders resting after being frozen. Hurricane hears from Pansy about Clover’s summoning the Fire of Friendship, which sparked in part the thaw. He is surprised that the unicorn mare was capable of such a thing and so is of course sizing her up…Clover is just wondering why he is staring. And that’s where there romance started…in my head anyway.
