I guess most of the re-design cost comes from planning on how the side is supposed to look and work. I mean, I’ve heard that creating the slogan for city can cost millions.  
But I agree on fighting aganist eclipse.

Yeah, I know that’s probably the reason… Maybe they should’ve thought twice before blowing a load of cash on it. But then again Derpibooru pretty much has a redesign on the April 1st each year, I know it’s alot simpler when the mods of this site a lick of silly paint, but I can’t see DeviantArt’s redesign would cost that much money in comparison, esspically when the site is heavily monetized and thousands of users have core memberships. Then again I don’t know alot about the cost of re-designing websites. It all seems silly to me, but at least It does give us something to fight for! To be honest, it’s been very entertaining to start a war on Eclipse.

So they’re forcing it onto us, so the money wasn’t wasted. Makes sense?

Yeah, they’re getting rid of that option. I wouldn’t be complaining if they kept the button, but DeviantArt is gonna start forcing us to use their crappy “modernized” design.

iirc Come May 1st, there won’t be an option anymore and it’s Eclipse for everyone or gtfo.

i’m just here facepalming at how many people don’t know that there’s an option to turn it back to the old site.

I’ve often said that the only reason media/business bosses are so out of touch is because they have no interest in being in touch. That wall of silence between user/customer/client and provider/creator is there intentionally. They don’t WANT opinions and critique, they just want traffic and money. Since cutting us all off at the knees has been the most effective way to make profits, they will never stray. Particularly in other forms of business, such as cable, where the companies have formed amicable regional territories at the expense of customer choice and quality service.
 
Maintain the wall of silence, target the young (too naive to put up a fight); profit. <- how the first world operates today.

I fear that sort of thing will only get worse from here out. As soon as the “nothing is okay to do, say, or feel” crowd get into positions of real power… it’s over. Freedom of speech, expression, and individuality will be smothered for some time in the name of a misguided “greater good”.

I already heard that eclipse breaks DA group function. So they’ll release a broken mess for regular PC’s just to it might work beter on phine. But who’s uploading their drawings via phone anyway?

Especially since these are made for mobile platforms first, everything else second (and poorly). And even then, sometimes they aren’t even good on phones!

I agree. Sites really need to stop forcing visual updates, especially when a good many people have voiced disdain about them.

Yeah I am not a fan of it… Just like FA’s new format I have to zoom it out to 80 percent to be able to use it on desktop.

The genius who came up with a forced eclipse mode needs to be punched in the face.
