Oh God. I’m imagining a fanfic now, and it’s not at all pleasant.

“Scootaloo’s parents were all too eager to show their friends and neighbors how loving and progressive they are, and so they happily accepted their sister’s/sister-in-law’s “alternative lifestyle” and welcomed her lover into the family. The fact that they were desperate for a caretaker for Scootaloo may have pressured their decision, though. Little did they know that her and her “partner’s” deviance didn’t stop there. Not even close. Tragically, they wouldn’t know just how many horrible things they did to their daughter until it was too late, if ever. On top of being too confused and ashamed to tell anyone, Scootaloo resented her parents for leaving her on her own and, to a certain extent, kept them in the dark out of spite. Indeed, perhaps the reason she clung so furtively to Rainbow Dash and even to Lightning Dust was because she longed to be looked after by someone, anyone but her aunts. Sadly, her young psyche will likely never recover from the horrific torment she suffered all those years, and no one will likely ever know.”

You know, or something like that.
