Out of all the adorable gifs on this site, you’d think a higher quality one would receive a higher score.

Plus, this one has a common complaint in the comments about how the top picture on all of Derpibooru is just a relatively effortless (compared to some of the other pictures in the top scoring) GIF loop

All the images that vie for the top scoring spots get downvotes. 1. more people will see them so they’re more likely to be seen by assholes, and 2. people try to help and hinder which one ranks over the other by upvoting/downvoting respectively.

The original uploader seems to no longer be active on the site, so a special badge would be wasted on them.

Yaknow, when I saw the ‘the most upvoted picture on derpibooru’, I thought ‘eh, maybe it used to be and people just never bothered to update it’  
I mean, I did get here fairly by chance.  
But, nope, this really is the most upvoted picture - at the moment, it’s a net score of 3523 when the next highest is in the 2800s. (Fake-edit: Actually, eh, turning down my filters did reveal one picture over 3000. Well, animation anyway, but then so is this. It’s still a lower score, though)  
I kind of feel like that deserves some reward or something: Give the uploader badges, give the artist badges, just start throwing badges around.  
I mean, come on, it’s literally the most upvoted piece of art on the entire site, so why doesn’t the uploader have a unique badge?
 
As to the animation?  
The only reason I’m still able to type is that I’ve scrolled down to where I can’t see it.  
Even after weeks of building up a resistance to ‘*trying to murder us’, this is still ‘Daww’ of a caliber I can’t handle.  
My only regret is not finding it earlier; I’ve gone months using this site, but not knowing of this greatness.

Well it was planned to remove it since a while, because it is obsolete, since you can search it quite easily with score.gte:250  
But it wasn’t removed, because many have it in their watch list. But that topic is more for the forum…

What happened to the upvotes galore tag?

Chrome doesn’t have native support for APNGs, but Firefox does. There might be a Chrome plugin or something you can get.  
It looks better because, unlike GIFs, APNGs support partial transparency, letting softer edges be created without using the white which only looks good against a white background.

Btw. I noticed that the.apng is not moving in chrome. Does it require a plug in?

The browser theme I have has a dark background for transparent images.  
I’m using Firefox btw.

Because when you open it in a new tab, it puts it on a white background even with a dark browser theme. Making the claim also true but pointless.

The APNG looks a bit better on dark backgrounds.

Shouldn’t have messed with the timing.

I still like this picture. But since I switched to the dark theme it looks much worse, because there is this white cropping all around it, which is not visible on the normal white theme.  
Definitely needs a small redo.
