Retcon time! (Well, not really, but…)
 
Ever since I first created Aaron the Pony, I’ve always wanted to give him a proper “pony name”, and as the years went by and I started developing him as his own character rather than just a caricature of myself, I felt that it became more and more necessary to give him one.
 
It took me WAY too long to think of one, but I finally settled on the name Brain Teaser, which, in hindsight, should’ve been obvious to me from the start but it wasn’t because I’m a big dumb. 😣
 
So why Brain Teaser? Well, as I’ve said before, I initially created him as just a pony version of myself, and this was during a time when I was enamoured with games like Professor Layton, Ace Attorney and just generally had a love for mysteries, intrigue and investigation (and I still do to this day), which is why I created my OC with that mentality in mind, and applied it to his personality as a reflection of my own, and even based his cutie mark on that premise. The term “Brain Teaser”, as I’m sure most of you are aware, refers to a puzzle or a riddle that’s intended to be solved, typically for amusement. I literally can’t think of a name more fitting for him and I hate myself for not realizing it sooner.
 
So what does this mean with regards to calling him Aaron? Simple! While Brain Teaser will be acknowledged as his official birth name, the name “Aaron” will continue to be used, but as more of a nickname or an alias. It’d be wrong of me to just completely throw away that name after so many people have gotten attached to it. Plus, the Aarose shippers would come out with torches and pitchforks! Basically, just think of Miles Prower from the Sonic franchise who’s better known by his nickname “Tails”.
 
So to summarize, Brain Teaser is now Aaron the Pony’s real birth name, but he’ll still go by Aaron as a nickname. Absolutely nothing has to change about the tumblr blog or anything related to the name Aaron The Pony, this is just something I’ve personally been wanting to do for so long and I figured it’s better to do it sooner rather than later.
 
Now, before I get flooded with questions about why Aaron never told Rosie his real name until now, I should point out that this little comic is only intended as an announcement of his real name, not necessarily to be taken as a canon event. X3
