From what I see, Hasbro only makes the toys and tells DHX, “Hey, could you work this into the show somehow? Kthxbye.” What goes on in the show itself is DHX’s doing and not because Hasbro’s executives are giving them very specified ordered on how to write the show.

I do hope you guys leave. Go and look back, no one will miss you. No bluffing, no bullshiting or attention whoring, if you want to leave, just get out and move on.

I feel the same as well. I have never been so emotionally invested in a show since I was a child. Even though I’m a huge anime fan, I never felt depressed over an anime series like I did with FiM. It goes to show how so many people yearn for those innocent days when we were children and the world and the people in it were good by default. But it does no good to dwell on the fall of FiM. I knew this day would come, but I had hoped it would come when the story created Lauren Faust was completed, not because the toy department decided to run the show into the ground for the fast money rather than nurture the franchise. Ironically, I believe they would have made more money in the long run by not dissing the fanbase. But while I have given up on the show, I still have FiM fan fics to write. I have my own versions of the show that I want to tell. I don’t have market forces directing me but rather, the product of my mind and imagination. Dittos to the rest of the fanbase. As long as that lives, FiM lives, and to hell with the changeling abomination that is season 4.

I can certainly identify with OP. It was very painful originally when my mind was racing about Hasbro taking over the show and ruining it, but it made me realize that I am putting too much emotional value on the show. Really, even if Alicorn Twilight ruins the show and it is never good again, at the end of the day it’s still just a TV show, and losing it should not make me feel like I just lost my best friend.

If true it is very offputting for me. Not one for big changes.
