The fight-or-flight instinct can really mess with your apparent behavior because you definitely don’t have time to think before you speak if you’re in a situation where it gets activated. In some ways, you turn your brain off, say things you don’t mean, and aren’t really paying attention to any of it or thinking “wait, does that sound messed up? does that accurately reflect how I feel? what the fuck am I even saying?” because you’re too busy trying to not die.
 
If I was beating the shit out of someone, I’d probably be cursing incoherently the whole time, screaming “FUCK YOU” with each and every strike, with a final “THAT’S RIGHT YOU FUCKING BITCH FUCK BITCH FUCK” at the end. Doesn’t mean I act like that normally or enjoy what I’m doing.
