Hardly. Alicorns have been shown to have more powerful magic than unicorns. This will immediately upset the balance of power amongst the main characters, which until this point has been maintained. They will be forced to either relegate Twilight to a backseat and keep tension on or make her the crux of all the problems in the future, the end result of which will be the complete inability to make anything plausible and still keep her in character.
 
If she’s gone, why? And more importantly, why all the time? Would she really leave her friends?
 
If she’s the crux, whatever happened to the Elements of Harmony and the power of teamwork and friendship being the focus?
 
No matter what happens from there, things are screwed unless, and this is a BIG unless… Unless they undo what they did here. It must either be a one episode thing… or the end of it all. That’s all there is to it.

Immortality, prove celestia is immortal, go on I dare you. As far as we know Celestia and Luna just live a really really long time.
 
And if you can do that prove the same rules apply to Cadance and Twilight, they are smaller Alicorns. Moot point because not even Applejack is going to die.
 
Royalty, she already is or just as good as. People treated her as such due to her mentor being royalty. Moot point.
 
Changing race, shes still a pony. Wings or not. But yes, thats true, I don’t see whats bad about it,

She already HAS political influence, but this is the number one problem I have with you people, you base everything on ASSUMPTIONS. Even the immortality thing.

You’re right, nobody should ever improve, it might imply they weren’t good enough in the first place. Why work out? Are you implying you were in less than perfect shape? Why read? Would you really want to suggest you don’t know everything already?

@gingerninja666 Last I checked, getting knighted or getting a doctorate does not change your race.

Also, being a princess =/= Royalty apparently. It’s just a title. Like being knighted or getting a doctorate.

Also, Twi has NEVER been anything but special. She’s the most powerful unicorn in the world potentially. He special talent is MAGIC itself, giving her an immediate edge over any other pony in the world. AND she’s Celestia’s prized pupil and was hand picked by her to be the saviour of the world.

Equestria’s a frelling MONARCHY. By definition you aren’t special if you’re not a Princess!
