1.) Revisiting this old headcanon about kirins a little bit -
Kirin are incredibly peaceful creatures, with a strong sense of right and wrong. They’ve been cut off from pony civilisation for quite some time (until of course, fluttershy and aj’s visit) - but there are tales of lost travellers finding one or two on their journeys. Those that did encounter them said that they had a deep, knowing look, that saw right into your soul and knew if you were pure of heart or not.
kinda like unicorns in gravity falls. With the inflated sense of self to boost sometimes too…. If you thought the Canterlot Elite were bad, you haven’t seen nothing.
“Not pure of heaaaaaaaaaaart!!!” - vibes.
Their nirik form isnt one thats shown often. It’s often the result of high emotions, like when their family is threatened or any sort of strong feeling of injustice. It’s certainly not a side of themselves they like to express, though, hence why Autumn Blaze’s village were eager to hide it. It sort of breaks the illussion that they’re this peaceful, all good species.
Autumn Blaze herself kinda sticks out like a sore thumb. She’s goofy, silly, loves puns and musical theatre - definitely not the calm and serene stereotype kirin have. She also doesn’t really get this whole, u kno, being able to see right from wrong magic “better thank you” shtick.
2.) and well, case in point to that - this!
A little while back, I introduced the cute poly ship I have called “Book Club,” featuring Twinkle Shine, Moon Dancer, Lemon Hearts, and Minuette - lookie here -

Their relationship is also fairly open. They’re welcome to new ponies joining their herd (case in point: Lyra used to be a part of their herd, until she left. They are all on very good terms with her still and visit her and her wife Bon Bon in Ponyville often) - while they’re also welcome to have relationships outside of their herd.
Twinkleshine has one, brief, encounter with Autumn Blaze one evening, when the Kirin is mostly just passing through Canterlot on her way to Ponyville. She doesn’t think much of it…. until 9 months later, when she appears again at her doorstep, dropping the baby off and peacing out.
…Yea. there’s not much maternal instinct in Autumn Blaze. Though Kirin’s are usually self preserving and protective of their kin, Autumn Blaze kinda just… didn’t take it seriously, really, and was completely unequiped to deal with this situation - so she drops it off with Twinkle and lets her and her 3 wives deal with it.
And well, obviously they do. and they obsess over her and spoil her.
3.) Raising a baby kirin when you’re a soft and squishy pony is hard tho.
4.) Here she is in all her glory. I adopted her not too long ago from vintage-rec ….and like, as soon as i see an adopt i like i just. my brain immediately goes whrrrrr bzzzz brap brap brrr - and then i have a full headcanon and backstory for them ready to go.
Her name is Cherry Blossom, the kinda spoiled eldest child to the Book Club. She loves her mamas, and her like 1000 younger brothers (designs pending), but BOY does she have an attitude problem.
She can’t transform into her full Nirik form, being part pony and all, but her personality for sure makes up for that. She is incredibly fiesty and short tempered and won’t hesitate to snap your neck. Because of this, she’s not really appreciated much by her peers in the Canterlot Elite - but her mamas adore her…. and most ponies who got to know her, and her deep rooted loyalty, probably would too. Probably.
5.) Like I said. She will smack a bitch if she needs to. Especially if your last name is Pants and first name is Fancy. She really hates her snotty uncle, and most of the Canterlot elites tbh.
Also a little side note on her powers - she can do, you know, the standard unicorn magic etc etc, but she can also breathe fire. Aside from her small bursts as a baby though, she can’t really go full flame/nirik mode.
