Because it’s just as silly as all the rest of the drama.
I ask you one question with regards to the possible future seasons. Would you not enjoy an episode with Rainbow Dash teaching Twilight to fly?
The episode summary and Meghan’s comments seem to suggest different things.
The synopsis suggests a single-episode problem, or perhaps a change that would be resolved near the beginning of a possible Season 4 or in the mysterious “movie” project. Meghan’s comment to EW suggests that we’re stuck with Twilicorn for the rest of however long the show runs.
Lauren just wants to be left alone (for good reason!), M.A Larson busted out the popcorn, Meghan isn’t shocked about the reaction except its intensity, Jayson and the DHX staff are eerily silent, and Tara’s trolling everyone.
Agreed.
The question is whether this “new normal” is a bad thing. And if so, how much so?
I argue that it is probably a bad thing. My reasoning is that it places Twilight on a pedestal above her friends, even moreso than she was since the beginning. Basically, Twilight had shades of Mary Sue from the first minute of the first episode, but this change would likely place her so far beyond her friends that it would wreck the dynamic of what is essentially an ensemble show (yes, Twi is the lead and has the most screentime, but the other five are just as interesting and usually get better episodes). FiM has always been Twilight’s show, but it’s never been “The Twilight Show”.
It’s a class thing. Twi “ascends” to quasi-royalty; how do the other five react? If they genuflect to her, it destroys the dynamic. If they don’t, it strains suspension of disbelief.
I wonder if the comics will have to adapt to the whims of Hasbro’s marketing department as well, or if they’ll still have the creative freedom that Studio B used to have.
pinkie pie, most deffinitely pinkie pie
nope
has anyone here read the episode summary?
The way Meghan McCarthy worded something in an article about Twilight facing new challenges seemed to imply permanence.
Indeed.
