Y’know, this is technically true. I mean, the crew behind the show itself are cool with us, but the suits at Hasbro don’t give two shits. In fact, they probably think we’re a bunch of creepers who are ruining the image of their toy line.

They don’t realize that they’re shooting themselves in the foot here. They’d be making money hand over fist if they started selling up-market merchandise targeted at the older set. There are probably fans out there who would actually shell out for a $90 figure or two if Hasbro struck a deal with Revoltech or something.

If you believe hard enough and clap your hands, something may happen which would benefit the adult male demo. :D

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@CrossoverManiac
You are so incredibly wrong, it’s ridiculous. Do you have any brony friends that you actually talk to? Half of them are too ‘scared’ to go into the little girls aisle and buy toys, the other half don’t want the shit they sell at Walmart and buy custom toys and plushies from people who don’t pay Hasbro. Little girls, on the other hand, have all the buying power in the world these days. I see them in the store I work at every day, begging and eventually throwing a tantrum over some toy. Their parents Always give in.

This actually makes things worse. Breaking away from Pretty Princess tropes is part of what made Friendship is Magic so remarkable, but it looks like we might (emphasis on might) be right back to setting up little girls for disappointment in their lives just like every other show for girls.

That actually makes sense. I think the alicorn thing is just a ploy to sell more expensive toys. The real question is how many bronies will it remove from the fanbase, compared to how many bronies it will incline to purchase larger more expensive toys. From what I’ve seen however even bronies usually do not purchase the large off-color talking dolls. Who knows, maybe hasbro will release a new toy everyone will like.

True, the show was never meant for the 18-35 year old male demographic but Hasbro should consider the overall fanbase. Hasbro should never made MLP grimdark and chase away the 8-year old girls, but it doesn’t have to change the show for a sales gimmick and snub the adult fanbase either. Besides, guess which one has more buying power. It’s not even a good business plan anyway.

Then why do they sell bracelets/t-shirts/hoodies that say “Brony” on them? Who do you think has been clearing the shelves of pony merch?

That’s right, making a Twilight into a pretty princess helped me realize that I spent two years sperging over a show that has always been just a toy commercial for little girls all along. Time to move on to something designed more for my demographics. Any suggestions? Family Guy and South Park seem to stupid, and Simpsons jumped the shark ages ago…

Yeah, but this show wasn’t meant to just be a kid’s show. It was meant to show that entertainment for girls doesn’t NEED every character to be a princess and doesn’t NEED constant tea parties and makeovers.

Guess Baby Boomer CEOs weren’t ready for it.
