Exactly, and even if it does come to pass that alicorns live an extraordinary long time: so what? Yes, I’ll admit that there are sombre implications with that (I’ve seen Highlander; I know)…but here’s the thing: The show probably wont tackle said sombre implications, given that it’s a kids show, and unfortunately, people seem to think that esoteric understandings of life and death are too complex for kid’s shows

True. I’m being honest, though. They haven’t explicitly defined much of anything in the show, and canon supersedes fanon.
All we have to go on are wild conjecture based on extrapolation, and fanon.
They’ve set the bar kind of high for their race.
We haven’t seen if that is a “Luna and Celestia” thing, or if it’s an alicorn thing.
Cadence is an unknown. Apparently alicorns do grow at a comparatively normal rate.
Uh, source? Where in the narrative does it state, or imply that alicorns live forever? The closest it comes is in Luna Eclipsed, and even then it was quite nebulous
