Hmmm… yeah, turning his back on his own kin isn’t cool, but he didn’t do it to be right, he did it to screw destiny, like Hope did when she betrayed her own kind.
 
Granted, Cadance had little to do with it, when they would have come out they’d have shown who they truly were, meaning that Hope would have probably outlived her usefullness, as would Sombra.

Yeah, I don’t like the idea of sombra sealing away his own kind just to prove he’s ‘reformed’ and ‘did the right thing’. First he’s part umbrum, second the Umbrum did what they did largely because they resent crystal ponies, not because they’re legitimately powered by evilness or something.
 
Also, poor Hope. She had her entire childhood ruined by Cadence. Her trip with cadence pretty much proved that her childhood pixie friends are nothing but a big, fat lie.

See, Hope was going to do that anyway. After Sombra takes over the Empire she runs to the Princesses to help Sombra by I don’t know, rejuvinating him or whatever. Instead, they fight him and banish him, causing her to lose respect for them and Princeshood in general and immediately sets off on her journey.
 
See, in my headcannon, the Umbrum are not “evil” so much as they are lead by ideology or something. I mean, it checks out, some of them are legitametly not threathening, hence the slightly comedic tone at the end of Siege, Sombra’s innocence at the begining followed by his turn when he speaks to Rabia about him not belonging to the Crystal ponies and how they’re afraid of him, and her comment that they get big when they “feel threatened”. It hints at some deeper history between the Crystal Ponies’ light magic and their dark magic.
 
Also, another piece of headcannon is that that creature in the red crystal that both Sombra and Hope speak to is indeed Rabia all along, who is not his mother. Again, makes sense, she pretended to be Hope’s friend.

She is living proof that umbrums have a good side to them. She could have had a magnificent life with her healing magic and potential princesshood, but she gave all that up just to prove Somebra’s innocence. Yes she’s probably deranged, but god that makes her all the more likeable.

She would definetly murder for a piece of him! After blowing the other mare’s brains out she would talk to him and make him feel guilty about what he has done. Then it’s action time!

Hey, Radiant knows how to bring him back to life, right? So even if/when she does blow his brains out she can just restore him when she wants her Somby-womby back.
