What? It’s cute because of the way they look, they’re just as cute in context, because the look the same.
That doesn’t make their digging any less cute, it’s cute because of their physical appearance, they’re just as cute in context.

In context, it’s impressive, because Twilight is willing to try to dig her way underneath who knows how deep crystal walls to save her subjects from Sombra, and also heartwarming, because her friends will support her no matter how crazy her ideas may sound, but I wouldn’t call it cute, exactly.
Out of context, it’s ponies acting like dogs with goofy smiles, which warms my heart for an entirely different reason.
Probably because they were trapped by a villain king who’s about to destroy everything and everyone who they loved.
How is it any less cute in context?
