Yeah, he had issues... I still love "Ren & Stimpy," and respect John's contributions to animation, but I don't respect him as a person.
Even before he was outted as a perv', he still was a bad animation critic, as he hated everything that came after the 1960s. (And ironically, some 1960s cartoons looked like the styles he hates.)
And as for "Turning Red," it doesn't look bad to me. (Even with the beanmouth, which I sonetimes tire of too.) Though some are oddly protesting the film due to it's art style, (which Lucca kinda also did prior) or because they think "Turning Red" is a euphanism for ^periods,^ and trying to deem it innapropriate for kids...
I dunno, I just see the Red Panda transformation as a comical exaggeration of "growing up." Like that campy classic "Teen Wolf."
