Description
Based on the reveal for the upcoming “The Pony Life” cartoon and toy series Hasbro released.
Like I said, I like the new toy line (not enough to buy them all but I like them a lot more than previous brushable designs). And I like the art style for this spin-off series, but there’s a few fears for it upon seeing the animation.
But deep down, I bet this is real reason bronies complain.

I don’t hate calarts.
@Beau Skunky
Yeah i could see that, but i also watch the show almost everyday.
I also find that how i view the fan base and pony content to be different then others. I think popularity comes in waves, and that Hasbro wont be the only big player in pony in the next ten years. I think there is nothing but love here and we need to stand our ground. And every time i see a pony, it actually makes me happy. It makes me want to love the community and share it. It was never a surprise to me that people make the show their own, I was super big on the LOS series fantasy before pony, it got me through some tough times. I trust the fans to make wonderful content, but Hasbro doesn’t grab the show by the balls They have huge hiatuses were large groups of people who actually watch the show leave the fan base when there is no new episodes.

Don is 82 so he might have thought he didn’t have it in him to do it anymore. also one obviously they’re not going to put that a game into a pitch the animation in it doesn’t seem to have the same charm the game or is older movies does it looks a bit to clean.
Hopefully at some point they would explain why they decided to go with live action
Yeah, I hope they don’t try to blame Bluth either.
Sometimes it’s not always the executives either, as fans have blamed Hasbro for things that weren’t their fault either.
Pretty interesting considering how often fanbases log to blame the big evil executives.
with dragon’s lair you know that Netflix is going to get all the blame for it being live action and Don bluth was completely against it but had no choice
Pretty much… Remember when bronies were blaming M.A. Larson (instead of the toy makers) for Twilight getting wings?
At least, that became a joke after awhile, and even Larson got in on it.
@Background Human
No that wasn’t it, they literally didn’t know what a Nintendo Switch was.

People often associate the “CalArts art style” with bean smile which can be seen in cuphead and even the bendy games another game based on 30s cartoons
That may have been more to emphasize its hardware than anything else. Normally you could compare portables to their in-home equivalent, like the GBA being roughly a SNES or the PSP being roughly a PS2. But the Switch is more powerful than Nintendo’s last home console, so you have to look elsewhere.
That’s because it is. Welcome to internet arguments and bandwagons.
Perhaps, but it sounds ignorant to me, and doesn’t help their arguments.
It’s like how old people still call all video games “Nintendo” whether they are, or not.
I even saw one call a Nintendo Switch a “portable X-Box.”
@northern haste
Well, it’s more 1930s style, but come to think of it, the so-called CalArts style is similar to that retro “rubberhose” style.
Edited
Doesn’t cuphead also technically used that style?
And that game is praised for it’s visuals alone
Again, I think that people decided to use that term since it sounded bad, not because it’s accurate.
I find that odd, because looking back at stuff like classic Disney cartoons, many animated Disney movies, the Disney Afternoon line-up, and such, honestly most Disney animation doesn’t resemble that “thick outline, round head” style.
In fact, honestly more CN, Nick, Netflix, ect. cartoons are more reminiscent of that style.
Cal Arts style was meant to apply to those trying to copy Disney’s art style because the guy hated Disney, and somehow was twisted to “apply” to anything with a worm mouth.
Cal Arts style doesn’t even exist, it’s just a misnamed cartoon style stereotype term John K. invented. All those so-called “CalArts style” cartoons aren’t even made by people from CalArts.
In fact, ironically, Lauren Faust actally IS a student of CalArts, so if you say you hate CalArts, you have to hate her art, and MLP:FIM.
Edited
They hated it because they have a raging bias towards cal art style.
I don’t think everything they put in, or do with the MLP show is done solely for the older fans.
Some of the subtle “adult jokes” in Seasons 1&2 (like the “Big Labowski” ponies in the bowling ally) aren’t something exclusive to MLP:FIM, many children/family cartoons have subtle jokes or references for the parents to enjoy. (Look at “Animaniacs,” certain Nicktoons, and such.) Not to mention, the cartoons are made by adults, whom do that to amuse themselves too, or see what they can get away with.
Cartoonists & animators have been doing that stuff sense before bronies even existed.
If the show creators only cared to cater to the older brony fans, then they wouldn’t of done things bronies hated like… Give Twilight sparkle wings.

The show creators have acknowledged us on multiple occasions, least of which was coming to conventions. Mathematically, the odds that we just happened to like stuff they just happened to insert isn’t very probable. It is very much more likely they were fully aware, and brought us content that they knew would be liked, and several pieces of content only we would really understand as references.
One reason I can support this is because I watch and look into other cartoon series that Hasbro lords over, and that sort of stuff simply doesn’t show up. The exact same voice roles, exact same animators, producers, directors, musicians, they just don’t put in the same effort as they did in MLP.
BUT all that said, the Hasbro overlords are a completely different entity from the show’s creators. In fact, Hasbro is prone to the sin we call as a trope, “corporate meddling”, where they step in and stop the show’s creativity team from doing something sensible in favor of what they think will make them (or save them) more money.

I’ve seen some whom hate Derpy, just because most of the fanbase likes her.
I remember in a review of the first eqg movie someone complaining about fan pandering which was mostly just characters existing in The film or references to the show
Not to mention, the fans that actually get angry anytime they believe something in the show was inspired by the fanbase, or “catering/pandering” to the fanbase.
Is debatable how much to show was catering to bronies the first place.
As some of the “fan service” moments could just be stuff the fans just happened to like
No offense, but while I understand your concerns, you kinda come off a bit entitled, like Hasbo/DHX/ect. HAS to make the show cater to us bronies more then it’s target audience. It can still appeal to both.
Even then, I see many bronies here who haven’t watched a single episode in years, so honestly they don’t have to always cater to bronies.
“Pony Life” is just a slice-of-life miniseries spinoff that’s meant to bridge the gap between G4 & G5, it’s not even a full show, and we haven’t seen anything of it yet, except those cute/comical stop-motion shorts. I don’t think it’s a sign of a dip in quality, or implying what G5, and the future of MLP will be like.

If you read the image description, I drew this poking fun at all the other bronies (represented as Anon) complaining about Pony Life (it’s a joke of course).
