One of Athena’s most evident traits is her genuine, deeply-rooted kindness. Along with her bright turquoise eyes, this was obviously inherited from her mother, the Element of Kindness herself. Annie takes it upon herself from a very young age to uphold Fluttershy’s mission, and is highly empathetic towards her fellow creature. If somecreature in the room is crying or otherwise upset, you can usually count on the half-draconequus to leap into action to try and ease their sadness or anger. Though her appearance can be off-putting to an upset creature at times, her soft voice and kind eyes usually end up winning them over. Through Fluttershy’s teachings and her own big heart, Annie knows that sometimes just a small gesture can make all the difference in the world.
Though Annie is very close to her mother, she very much adores her Da. Once Discord gets over his initial fears of fatherhood and officially settling down (he was too tethered by his love for these two creatures. He could never leave them), he actually finds that he quite enjoys this whole “dad” thing. Though it doesn’t appear Annie’s magic is nearly as strong as his, and he’s just a tad disappointed he can’t teach her the fathomless extent of a draconequui’s chaotic powers, Discord doesn’t mind a whole lot. He still delights in making his little girl smile when he conjures small little parlor tricks - especially her very favorite chocolate milk rain clouds. Though Athena can make them herself (and it was the very first trick she was able to pick up from her father) his somehow just taste better.
3-4. Like her father, Athena is also quite creative. Though, a little different than Discord’s own imagination, she instead utilizes her chaos magic to create different sorts of crafts and projects - candles with purple flames that shoot sparks (harmless of course!) when blown on, or a galaxy-painted vase whose stars and nebulas move during the day. She quite enjoys creating little pickety-things, as she so fondly calls her projects. Each item is infused with different types of magic, be it useful, for a practical joke, or meant to put a smile on somecreature’s face. She teams up with her cousin Mellow Vibes when he sells his own artwork in the Marketplace, and quite a few citizens of Ponyville enjoy her creations and they decorate many homes in her beloved village.
Annie, like her mum, loves to sing and has quite a lovely voice. She has an eclectic taste in music, and will hum soulful love ballads and go all-out with an intense rock piece. She has a pretty good range, and when best friend Jetstream feels that a a certain song he’s composing needs some backing vocals, or even a lead voice, he often turns to “Noodleface” (who never hesitates to say yes).
Athena has an affinity for water and loves to swim. She can sit in the middle of a rainstorm, swim through a river, or leap from a waterfall with ease due to her draconequus nature - her blood runs hotter than a pony, and her thick fur keeps her rather warm even in the northern oceans. When she was younger, she was often found in Celestia’s garden, having a blast in her beautiful koi pond. The princess doesn’t mind, of course, and Annie may make a few secret forays to the pond in her adult days.
Though, most of the time, she is a walking, gentle, warm ray of sunshine, there are times that Annie just feels a little too different. Granted, Athena was born during Equestria’s most prolong period of peace and acceptance since Celestia and Luna took reign. Most of the citizens of Ponyville just see her as another creature, just as themselves. Discord being elected as Celestia’s official Royal Adviser (after his tale of reformation and the rescue of the Mane Six spread throughout Equestria) certainly helped how the country viewed draconequus, and Discord especially, of course. However, she is still quite often reminded that she is half-pony, but only just that. Her magic is either not strong enough - or she doesn’t try to, she hasn’t quite told anypony - to create a pony form for her to retreat into when the teasing just gets too much. Being an empathetic soul, Athena is also quite sensitive.
Taught from an early age how to deal with teasing and bullies from both an experienced mother and father, there were still times when a certain comment or whispers behind her back gets to the serpent-like, strange-looking, sure-to-cause-trouble creature. And on the other hoof, she can’t even cause proper trouble to give ponies and yaks and griffons and all of them cause to worry. Athena’s chaotic magic seems rather limited and can act up, especially when she’s emotional. Though she is emotionally intelligent, she is also an imperfect being as every other is. Athena tends to shove down her self-esteem issues and pretends, like her father, that simply nothing can bother her or get to her (though most know that is certainly not true). Despite trying to hide her pain and pretend that, sometimes, she doesn’t wish she could simply turn into a pony, or that she isn’t quite nervous about stepping into the role of Royal Adviser, she certainly can’t pull the wool over mother dearest’s eyes. Fluttershy is always there for her daughter, in the ups and downs, and always tries her best to help her see what a wonderful young lady she’s turning out to be.
