I think Cele made it clear that she wanted to use DisQord for what ever her reasons. I just hope that if and when DisQord ever meets Chrysalis they decide to tag up together, and take Cele down!

The reason for the first lengthy imprisonment was due to the lack of a way to reimprison Discord after the ability to use the elements of harmony was lost. Couldn’t take the risk of rehabilitation failing.

After the first escape she realized that imprisonment won’t last forever and she would have to deal with Discord again some day. So better sooner than later.

Here’s a question for you. Why do you suppose Celestia wanted to give Discord the chance to rehabilitate? After leaving him in stone for a thousand years, you’d think she wouldn’t bother. Besides, she was pretty clear about her doubts in the episode. Not to insult the soup touret, but something’s fishy.
