To be honest, we don’t know if in G5 nature magic will be something possible to happen. Unicorn magic probably will be related to their personalities, while Earth Pony magic (putting it here for the record, it’s not known if it’ll actually happen) may be related to their special talents.

Yeah nature magic is a thing (which is why I already cited Zecora who’d fall into the druid/shamanism nature magic thing). But I just associate unicorns with higher learning/being advanced because of magic, not living in nature.
They probably wanted to keep Ponyville an Earth Pony land like its G4 version was many decades before Twilight’s arrival. And there’s lots of stories featuring magical forests.

Ever heard of druids? How is nature magic well, not natural?
:/ To me that makes as much sense to me as Earth Ponies inhabiting Cloudsdale… Fluttershy totally belongs in a forest, but why make her a unicorn and why have unicorns in a place that’s all about naturally occurring things? The closest thing we had to magic in the forest was what, poison jolk? Zecora’s voodoo juju?
Unicorns in G5 will live in the Everfree Forest. Fluttershy totally matches a place like that! And this design is based off a concept art, it’s not known if the vines in her horn will stay.
