See the idea i got was that the CMC already know plenty about friendship. Having these younger kids talking to ponies gave the idea that the school of friendship has been a success; those kids are as young as CMC were at the start of the season.
 
Besides, they were at the school for gifted unicorns and cloudsdale; Scootaloo can't fly so she couldn't make it up there, and Sweeite Belle isn't a gifted unicorn.
