> delta doesn’t take care of apogee, doesn’t talk to her, just ignores her. lots of alcohol, toxic waste and sharp metal for a foal to play around with too. apogee even has to remind delta to feed her. imagine if your mother couldn’t even look at you without feeling hurt and betrayed. wouldn’t that mess you up as a child?[/bq]
If she didn't care or wanted to talk to her, she would just ignore her for the whole day, but she doesn't do that. She allows Apogee to help her in her work and she isn't afraid to start a conversation with her daughter. She also cares enough to remember what Apogee tells her.
Well, the envoirment that Delta lives in is kinda of a mess. You can't really "clean up" a junkyard, even tough it's still one of the cleanest Junkyards I saw. Hell, even the inside of the caravan is more "cleaner" than it used to be. In "Concessions" it is written that:
[bq]
> "[...] Littering the floor were pieces of laundry, as well as the occasional empty beer can or cigarette butt.[...]"[/bq]
Then, if you look at the 4th story page, besides of a towel(?) in the background, there is nothing on the floor.
Hell, even if you compare the 1st page of the comic with this line from "Concessions":
[bg]
> "[...]In the dim light of the moon, she could make out various metal parts lying about, either piled up or littering the ground. What was this, some sort of junkyard? A dump, maybe?
>
> Apogee let her gaze wander, wondering if perhaps somepony was still living here. Based on the state of decay things appeared to be in, and the general mess, she concluded it was abandoned years or decades ago.[...]"[/bq]
You will notice that the junkyard itself is much more clean and organized. Now, if Delta lived in a mess for years, then why would she randomly decided to clean it all up, if not for Apogee's sake.

> delta does have… an affection for apogee, but that makes her cut off the discussion. delta can’t tell apogee how she feels, because apogee is her daughter, so how is apogee supposed to help? delta needs to have someone she can scream at and cry with, not someone she feels compelled to protect. if I was doing this story, apogee would either be helpless to stop her mother’s self-destruction, or grateful to someone else who did. what little of a "good mother" delta is, is just hurting her more.[/bq]
I kinda hoped that Trash would fit the role of a "shoulder to cry" as she seemed to be the only pony close to Delta who shows any sort of feelings to the pegasus. But for some reason, they stopped appearing together.
Then again, as I said, Delta's being a mother is a very important part of the story. It should probably also play into her "redemption".
