Could be. Of course, in that case taking one of them out to try reforming them would horribly freak the other’s out.

Perhaps the intent was to create a self-sustaining dreamscape where they may or may not be aware of what even happened to them, but they’re cursed to be together throughout their time in the world.

So if they got freed, they’d be sick of one another, so they couldn’t harmonize as a team anymore, on a conscious or subconscious level. Unless they became friends, which probably isn’t happening.
Latecomer

@ElCid
Proof? It wan’t the rainbow blast that stoned them.
ElCid

@Latecomer
You’re naming two VERY different things here. The same thing that was done to Discord was done to them. They’re conscious.
Latecomer

@AC97
Given Discord’s line, I wondered if perhaps their awarenesses were turned inwards, within a shared mindscape.

Also, Rockhoof was going to get “stone sleep,” as portrayed in A Rockhoof and a Hard Place.

So yeah, very possible to be unconscious. Discord is an outlier, probably.
Latecomer

@ElCid
That he did when petrified by the Elements. Conversely, Twilight didn’t seem to remember being stoned by the cockatrice. Who knows if they’re awake of not?
ElCid

@Latecomer
Actually yes, we DO know she’s conscious, because Discord has outright stated that you remain conscious while petrified.
ElCid

@Copper Knight
Okay, and what else? That’s literally all we know. My point still stands.
Copper Knight

@ElCid
When questioned by Twilight, she said it was because “power”. That’s it. She wanted power.

@Smart Heart
The one to recognize just what was happening and all three of them hated the idea.
Latecomer

@Background Pony #6ED7
Indeed.

@ElCid
We don’t really know her motives, or whether she was always evil, or even if she’s conscious.
ElCid

@Latecomer
And what do we actually KNOW about Cozy or why she acted the way she did? Do the writers just want us to assume she was just born evil or something and thus it’s perfectly okay to keep a literal child imprisoned in stone while still conscious for decades?
Background Pony #9A44
Hopefully the stoned stasis thing is a temporary thing. The Mane 6 could always try to get to the bottom of WHY they’re like this, and once they find their answers, they can test it out. They don’t need to be in stone forever.
Latecomer

@Smart Heart
Oh yes - but a) it would be an evil father and daughter, and b) there’s room for Mommy Chrysalis too.
Smart Heart

@Latecomer
True. But don’t you find the idea of Tirek and Cozy being like father and daughter kinda cute?
Latecomer

@Smart Heart
Well I really don’t see Cozy, let alone Tirek, renouncing their villainy or revenge just because they became friends with each other.
Smart Heart

@Latecomer
Not how I meant it, though.
Latecomer

@Smart Heart
They thought twice about working for Grogar anyway.
Smart Heart

@Latecomer
And there you have it. If it weren’t for her convincing the other two to deny their feelings of friendship and teamwork, they might’ve thought twice about working for Grogar.
Latecomer

@Smart Heart
Chryssy - after all, she had lost her hive to that kind of thing.
Smart Heart

@Latecomer
But who was the first to reject those feelings?
Latecomer

@Smart Heart
They did all seem like they might be touching on friendship there - but they also rejected it quickly. And even if they had tapped into it, that would probably have just made them more dangerous.
Smart Heart

@Latecomer
How about that scene in Frienemies after Tirek gave Chrysalis her magic back?
Latecomer

@Smart Heart
Really? Because I didn’t really see Tirek or Cozy as interested in that in the first place.
Smart Heart

@ElCid
Mainly, their total lack of genuine interest in goodness.

I’d say that’s due to Chrysalis’s influence.
