Page 703 - Dust DaredevilI personally am a firm believer that not everyone is in their right minds all the time, and that context and various stresses on the mind can go a long way to influence behavior. So when people cry “OOC,” I’m often one to go, “Weeeellll…” and shrug. But that’s just me. In some cases. And really, arguing over the behavior of fictional characters… How you say, the winning move is not to play.
Transcript:
DM: In the chaos, Applejack manages to pull ahead.
Rainbow Dash: Two of her friends got wasted, and she doesn’t care?
DM: More like the desperation and adrenaline have her… not quite thinking clearly. Anything that keeps her from having to tell the truth is a victory.
Fluttershy: That seems… very cold of her.
DM: Yeah, I realized it was a little OOC when I said it… Anyway. Then, in the distance, you hear bells ringing. A railroad crossing draws near, lights flashing, gates closing. The sounds of an approaching high-speed train are unmistakable. Possibly the same train that was late for Applejack’s departure earlier. The gates are already closed, but it’s still hard to judge who will reach the crossing first.
Twilight Sparkle: There’s no way she’d do what we’re thinking, right? Savvy, self-aware Applejack? There’s no way…
Rarity: We’re not dealing with a calm Applejack, darling.
DM: Over the wind, you hear her gleefully murmur the word,
Applejack: Yes.
Pinkie Pie: Oh no! My fanfics broke her brain!
