Skatealoo? Scootboarding? Either way, I hope I did enough research that this won’t make anyone who actually skateboards wince. I know she should probably be wearing a helmet, but I liked her hair.
Also, I’m pretty pleased with the new wings I made. I’d hope I am… because making those things from scratch was quite an undertaking.
If you want to know about why there has been not much art lately, there is a post here: https://stellaratorponies.tumblr.com/post/187506121420/slowness

Wow… that is a bizarrely specific combination of elements that he seems to really enjoy, but he’s doing it very well. hits ‘Follow’ for reasons he is uncertain of
Yeah, looking at sources is important. If I had to pick the one thing that my figure drawing instructor drills into us the most, it is “Use references, use references, and dammit use references. Even if you think you already know what something looks like”
Plus, if you examine a real thing/process/whatever enough to make it look at least passable to people who are familiar with it, it’s almost always also going to look good to laypeople. If you mess things up, sometimes you can get away with it, but often times something about the subject will just look wrong to the viewer, even if they don’t actually know why.
I often get sent down a rabbit hole of research for a piece, and end up learning way more than I actually needed to about random topics like archery/fletching/bowmaking (>>1722721 >>1710319) or half-timbered architecture (>>1870484 >>1870495) or something XD
LOVE Suzusiro’s stuff! He has a Twitter too (for those who can’t be bothered with a Pixiv account).

Hey, at least you actually used sources to capture the look and feel of the sport. At this rate, you’d be right up there with some other artist I’ve come to admire…can’t quite put my finger on it, though…
…ah well, it’ll come back to me. Sorry for the late reply!
(More of this magnificent madman’s work here.)
That’s good to hear. Thanks!
I try to always do a moderate amount of research on a thing before I use it in art. While obviously I didn’t try to learn about how to DO anything, I now have WAY too many photos from the Vans US Open and similar. XD
For that, have a song to set the mood!
