Yeah, definitely. I agree with that!
Even they treated that as an AU, and the show is funnier than it has any right to be. The fact that it mocks itself is the cherry.
It’s ok pal, it’s on the past now
It’s ok, it’s actually nice to see somebody admit they were wrong, (we’re all wrong sometimes) and yeah, every fandom has bad & good things about them.
Gonna swallow my pride here and say you’re right, that fit of negativity about the Sonic fandom was cruel and hypocritical of me.
No fandom is perfect. No fandom is holier-than-thou, and they shouldn’t be copping that attitude towards each other when they’re all really in the same boat.
@BlastTheChaos
Sorry.
I guess I thought that what Sonic is (was) cynically predicting in implying the MLP fandom would replicate the worst tendencies of his own fandom was an attack on the MLP fandom, but taking a swing back at another fandom was not the right response.
Yeah, it’s old Sonic drama, but there are still a few Classic Sonic fans whom complain about Modern Sonic, and not just for the eyes… Some just hate his newer preportions, his newer inconsistent game styles, voice, or other things.
@BlastTheChaos
Well said, it’s ironic bronies hate being stereotyped, or having their fandom demeaned, when they’re doing the same to other fandoms…
I’ve oddly caught crap for being a Sonic fan here, and frankly I’m not even that obsessive with that series, (I’m more of a Mario-fan honestly) and some recent games like “Sonic Unleashed” I never played before. I don’t even follow the comics anymore.
People tend to get labeled a “manchild” if they like MLP, or Sonic thanks to all the stereotypes… Personally as a both a brony & Sonic fan, I feel there’s alot of similarities between both fandoms. (Like I saw a brony bashing Sonic fans for making “lame recolor fan OCs.” His entire DA gallery was literally just recolored official Hasbro/DHX show art of his pony fan OCs.)
Not to mention, the brony fandom is just as divided as the Sonic fandom, and I still occasionally see some complain about “Twilicorn,” and act the same as retro-Sonic-purists. Much like people whom only like the original Sonic Genesis/Megadrive trilogy, there’s bronies & ex-bronies whom only like the first few seasons of MLP:FiM, and are divided on other things in the series, as well.
Edited
The green-eyed Sonic drama started when Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was released because people like SammyClassicSonicFan wanted Sonic in that game to look like black-eyed Classic Sonic and not like green-eyed Modern Sonic.
This drama started dying off when Sonic Generations brought back Classic Sonic and finally it died off when Sonic Mania was released.
For your info, I was not a member of this silly drama.
this came out in 2010. his eyes where green well before this game came out
Yes, it was, when Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was released.
Funny that you said this, cause lately I havet seen a single person complaining about eye color
Also, I love how you painted every Sonic fan under the samd brush, totally a non biased analysis
Anyways pal, do you want some pills? You kinda need them
You see, my weird blue hedgehog friend, it turns out that she was a good character and good characters can handle change and development. That’s the key word there: Character. When people like the underlying character, the largely incidental trappings don’t matter so much.
On the other hand, when all the substance and personality - that is, all the character - a character has going for them is a corporate-constructed facade of AWESOME and EDGY reminiscent of something written by a 12 year old, of course you’re going to attract the kind of immature twats drawn to those kinds of things. When superficial is who you are and who you cater to, you should expect your fans to throw unrelenting shit-fits over superficial changes - there’s nothing deeper for them to place greater value in. What people choose to make into their big “I will die on this hill” issues with you kinda shows what depth of value you’ve got going for you as a character.
In your case, apparently your value as a character amounts to… eye color. So yeah. Conclude from that what you will.
Anyway, that’s the difference between your respective situations. Hope that helps clear things up!
