Yeah because the PRINCESS OF FRIENDSHIP won’t possibly be able to make new friends, nor could she possibly look forward to protecting their families for generations to come.  
You know, I think people try so hard to rationalize why immortality would suck solely because they won’t ever have it.

The internet has a bunch of people that don’t know what common decency is. Also keep in mind that promise was made six years ago. Plans change, and the only way to keep it that I could think of lore-wise would be to turn all of the mane six into alicorns. I think you can imagine the fandom’s reaction if that happened. It’s pretty much a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation

yeah that’s what I expect. The fandom (the portion that’s seen it anyway) is extremely divided on how it SHOULD have ended, so I expect many people to write their own endings. Which isn’t a bad thing. Certainly better than attacking staff

that’s a severely flawed, EXTREMELY unlikely theory. In most of these instances she was supercharged by outside forces. The first one was her innate magic getting tapped into early due to the sonic rainboom. In the second and third one, she had the magic of THREE OTHER ALICORNS shoved into her body without preparation. And afterwards she was completely fine. It sounds more like you’re just desperate to keep what Meghan said SIX YEARS AGO as canon despite it clearly not being the case.

Twilight will die from an high overdose of magic anyway. Her body can’t handle high levels of magic very well.
 
There’s the proof that Twilight’s own magic will kill her eventually.
 

 

 

 
My theory is that eventually an far worse villain than Grogar (Discord) will show up and Twilight will save the day again but this time the magic overload would be far too much for Twilight’s body to handle and Twilight explodes into bits and die.

they literally had two options for this finale. Either they all become alicorns and everyone screeches like they did with Twilight 6 years ago (btw the claim that she wouldn’t outlive her friends was that long ago), or she does outlive them because alicorns canonically live longer lives, as proven by Luna and Celestia. Either way, people are pissed off. This was the safer of the two options. It’s not incompetence like people want to think. If Discord could make others immortal, why didn’t he make Fluttershy immortal IMMEDIATELY?

I know everyone around here wants to put all the blame for things they dislike on the crew being idiots who can’t do their job right but I think this is honestly just a simple example of 6. Also it was only Megan who said that and I honestly believe that she was referring to it being explanation 5. And if you take it that way it isn’t any of those explanations, her saying that was just her head canon and it wasn’t what the rest of the writers wanted.

And seriously, there’s numerous individuals falling under “highest level unicorns” as Magic Duel put it regarding age spells.
 
Starlight, Twilight, Star Swirl (who in expanded material has used age spells on himself, and he’s Star Swirl either way), Luna and Celestia could probably fall under that category.
 
An interesting idea under this thought though is what if some of Twilight’s friends decide they would rather move on from the world, die of old age, but others didn’t?

We all know Discord is going to use his powers to turn at least Fluttershy immortal and she’ll have him do it for her friends too. No big deal.

That is a thing I do find surprising no one really thinks all that much about the ponies that Celestia must have lost to disease and war let alone time. She turned out pretty fine in the end; so why would Twilight be perpetually sad forever about the death of her friends rather than just making more.
 
Just because you make more friends after some die doesn’t mean you care less about the friends you had. Also several other characters are going to live just as long as her, or at least an extremely long time, Spike, Discord, Celestia, Luna, Flurry Heart, Cadance and while they are pets Philomena,Peewee and Tank as well.

Yet nobody ever has any sympathy for Celestia smh
