Kinda necromancing but apparently that was just a coincidence that Popeye was cancelled when emojis was introduction
That’s good, that was a much better movie, with an impressive, unique, animation/art style.
Plus side at least spider-verse has been announce to be getting a sequel and not emoji
Yeah, everytime there’s a successful, and genuinely great animated movie, nock-offs tend to appear.
It is and it’s also an inside out knock off as well. But at least wreck it Ralph and inside out are actually good movies.
To be honest while I do think the emoji movie is bad it was kinda just a boring bad. It was just a lazy commercial. Also I feel Wreck-It Ralph 2 handled the product placement in the emoji movie should have
Edited
@Chibi dragon lord
Ok, now I have a reason to dislike that movie finally. (And from what I hear it’s kinda a “Wreck-it Ralph” nock-off.)
@northern haste
Bummer.
Edited
sigh
Not that train wreck of a movie.
And the worst part is that it was cancelled in favor of The Emoji Movie.
well apparently somewhere YouTube shorts were made. but they kinda look like something you put on your phone to keep kids quite for a few minutes
That’s a shame, especially sense Genndy Tartakovsky (creator of Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, & Primal) was going to make it.
No I knew what you meant I just didn’t have anything to add about the eShop part. Also what will be are you talking about? the Sony
One got cancelled
Agreed, (in fairness, Popeye is getting a movie) but you misunderstand me, I meant I wish the original Popeye game could get licensed so it can be rereleased on Switch, maybe via Hamster’s Arcade Archives lineup on the Eshop.
@Background Pony #8B33
It’s hard to say, but yeah things would be much different.
Also that’s actually not the only Popeye game Nintendo made. They made two different ones for their Game & Watch portable LCD game lineup.
To be honest I think donkey Kong was better off not getting the licence anyway. It’s probably would have fallen into obscurity if it did especially considering popeye isn’t exactly big in Pop culture in recent years
Yes but what would happen as a result of Donkey Kong being replaced with a Popeye game? Would Nintendo create entirely different original characters later? Would they stick with Popeye (at least for a little while) because of the popularity of the game?
It’s the kind of thing that can cause a ripple effect throughout the history of Nintendo.
Yeah, though the Popeye game was different, and similar to DK in some ways. The Popeye game focused more on collecting items, rather then just getting to the top of a level.
Mario’s original design even looks a bit Popeye-ish with his “squeengky” eyes.
I kinda wish they could rerelease the original Popeye Nintendo game on Switch. (Darn expensive licensing issues.)
Oddly enough Nintendo would release a popeye game a year after donkey Kong.I guess just one year can make a difference with licensing
Edited
Might’ve not gotten Mario & DK then.
It’s been rumored that Mario/Jumpman, and Donkey Kong are kinda inspired by Popeye & Brutus. (So Lady/Pauline might be like Olive.)
The premise is similar, an unnattractive everyman hero VS a hulking brute who kidnaps the damsel.
Donkey Kong was originally going to be a Popeye game but they couldn’t get the license at the time. After the popularity of Donkey Kong, they could. It really makes you wonder what would have happened if they had managed to get the license at first…
Ah, You’re right. Has pretty good graphics for an Atari game. (Though, arcade games tend to look better then the home versions.)
There was indeed a Road Runner game by Atari
I don’t know, I never heard of a Road Runner Looney Tunes arcade game.
I remember the licensed Popeye arcade/NES game from Nintendo. (One of the few licensed games they made.)
Road runner huh? Could he possibly be talking about the one from looney toons?
Edited
Those are all pretty good games, though I never played Road Runner.
