@Background Pony
Note that the next page has a changeling talking with Chyssie and saying something like “Why fous on trying to get twilight when we have plenty of those guys (fluffy things) left”
The way it was worded leaves almost no doubt that “those guys” are one time use.
I think we’re forgetting something.
Shining Armor was drained of love (or nearly completely), and he has recovered fine with seemingly no ill side effects.
I highly doubt that draining the love out of these things kills them, I imagine they replenish it after a while.
My head canon tells me that Chrysalis is a sociopath on a power trip. If there are other changelings/changeling queens out there, perhaps they are not so twisted.
As if draining the love out of someone doesn’t kill them, and if they can replenish it (Shining Armor) then I don’t see why changelings either can’t find sympathizers who will willingly be fed upon, or those that simply feed and move on.
‘Are you saying this thing isn’t evil?’ Eddie asked Mike abruptly. He was staring at the
scars as if hypnotized. ‘That it’s just some part of the . . . the natural order?’
‘It’s no part of a natural order we understand or condone,’ Mike said, rebuttoning his shirt,
‘and I see no reason to operate on any other basis than the one we do understand: that It kills,
kills children, and that’s wrong. Bill understood that before any of us.
@Wilhelm II, Kaiser
This is why they are considered to be evil.
Most predators at least try to be effecient and not kill everything in their area lions don’t get batshit every single time they see a zebra while those holey jimmy rustlers do.
Anyway i’m off to kill some Jews because i’m out of soap and need a new lampshade.
I’m not evul rite?
@Kappe
They you’re saying that all of them think the same. I didn’t saw Chrysalis opening her mouth and sucking Shining’s soul.
I don’t defend nor attack the changelings, but then, that looks more of a fast way to get love.
Here throwing my 2 bits, this comic will never change the ambiguosly of whenever they are evil or not because unless the show soem hour reference the comic, you can as hell just consider it AU and be done with it.
This didn’t provide any information we didn’t already have, and doesn’t prove that the changeling species is inherently 100% evil. Speculation about potentially good changelings is still plausible, and the angry laughter about the “retards” having their theories destroyed is uncalled for.
The changelings are evil. Even judging only from the course of events in A Canterlot Wedding. They didn’t show any indication that they view the fact that they feed on love as a necessary evil. They clearly took enjoyment in the suffering of others, especially the good queen.
The comic, however, brings it to another level entirely because it now shows that changelings and ponies biologically cannot coexist - no matter how peacefully and willingly you hand your love to them, the process of feeding on love itself is at the very least seriously detrimental, and at most fatal.
I would prefer it if these changelings chose to drain them to death.
Forever evil robs us of a great new character and not a good character, a grey area one.
Ponyville needs a changeling Garak.
“That’s why you came to me, isn’t it Twilight? Because you knew I could do those things that you weren’t capable of doing. Well, it worked. And you’ll get what you wanted: a war between the Griffons and the Discorded. And if your conscience is bothering you, you should soothe it with the knowledge that you may have just saved all of Equestria, and all it cost was the life of one Griffon prince, one dark sorcerer… and the self-respect of one Unicorn. I don’t know about you, but I’d call that a bargain.”
Honestly, I think they left it ambigous, depending on your headcannon for the Changelings. They could’ve done for pure Evulz, or because they were short on love and needed to feed after the attack on Canterlot, which leads to another headcannon of why.
