Well, not to bed or in the shower, at least. And stump cups are not comfortable, especially when work all day. An amputation is essentially an unhealed wound on the inside, with scar tissue and other things building up if the amputee isn’t careful.
In magical ponyland, there are spells to remove body parts (as shown in the comic where Rainbow’s wings are stolen by thieves and cooked into a wing-growing potion), and more powerful magic such as Discord’s in s2e1 might not have any ill effects. Kerfuffle here still has to rest a quarter of her weight on her truncated shin-bones.
I thought she would wear it at all times.
Balancing very carefully :)

Incident involving two watermelons and a spinning wheel, she doesn’t like talking about it because it takes too long to explain how the weasels were involved.
Sewing machine accident
True. and for all we know she could have been born missing that limb
@Twilight_Shimmer
I think it’s just a way of being more inclusive, not every scar or missing bodypart need to be character defining.
@Hopeful_Ink_Hoof
She did a flop flop hop hop and got a big chop chop.
never said
One of the mysteries of the special. They show her with a prosthetic, but never say anything about what happened.
