Thanks. Though my information were wrong because I didn’t found it in Wikipedia, but in a YouTube video instead. I never had the pleasure of having a shotgun, so what can I say? Thanks for correcting my information too.

Wikipedia says this:
“Shotguns have an effective range of about 35 m (38 yd) with buckshot, 45 m (49 yd) with birdshot, 100 m (110 yd) with slugs, and well over 150 m (160 yd) with saboted slugs in rifled barrels.”
But nonetheless, your ending statement of them being more useful in real life than in games is valid.
FYI:
I’ve seen people fire Shotguns physically in person before but I’ve yet to use one myself.

Using normal shells in a shotguns gives you at least 25 meters of effective range, this is a general range in the pump-action shotguns. The range can dramatically change to 90 meters if you’re using slug-type shells. If you’re using the classic sawed-off shotgun with double barrel, the range is still effective to the 12 meters. There’s shotguns that can change their effective range depending on the ammunitions and the weapon used, but the shotguns are definitely more lethal and effective than in videogames.

You could get an aftermarket heat shield for yours. I know Zytel makes some pretty solid & affordable fiberglass ones that fit 590’s.

I’m so mad right now. Not at the image, but because Mossberg put out the 590A1 retro series after I bought the standard model. I want the wood furniture and heat shield now!
