This was actually an interesting background plot point. Since changelings can change their physical forms to anything they want at any time, they might struggle with the idea of what they’re supposed to be. It’s a classic case of being overwhelmed by options. Things would be so much easier if she was just a dragon or something. She would know she’s meant to be a dragon and do dragon things. It’s not so simple with changelings; they don’t even really have a culture right now, but instead are confusedly borrowing bits and pieces from other cultures, unsure how to do them correctly, and probably lying awake at night and wondering what they’re even supposed to do in this world.
